StarWomanPlus-what is inspiration to you? And how do you get inspired?
Jennifer Lyons- To me, inspiration is the spark or flame that ignites inside of me when something
or someone intrigues me or challenges me. The "realness" of my divine essence. I get inspired very easily by surrounding myself with like-minded and open-hearted individuals. A spiritual journey. A soulful stare into my dog's eyes. A nature walk with my kids. A dream I remember. Being a part of an
unforgettable moment. Serendipity. Awe, my favorite.
SWP- Are you on a journey with destiny? What is the journey? What is your destiny?
JL- I am certainly on a journey full of destined desires. My journey is to be aware and expressive with my divine truth. My destiny is to heal others through transitions and transformations. Helping them to
blossom. Transforming them from caterpillar to butterfly. Helping them to discover their authentic 'YOU-ness' and to express themselves; leaving their dent on the universe.
SWP-Have doubt & faith affected your core/vision/mission/purpose? How?
JL- Doubt and Faith are strength builders, in my opinion. Doubt allows me to sort of freeze in time and settle in to what next best step to take. Faith guides me like an angel. In fact, the two go hand in hand. Sometimes I feel that an ounce of doubt allows for an abundance of answers to be channeled through faith.
SWP-You have an abundant plan for your life, right? How do you want to get there?
JL- Of course I have an abundant plan for my life. I was born unplanned to 16 year old parents who popped a birth control pill and wore a condom. For many years, I subconsciously lived my life through shame and fear - as though I were a MISTAKE. An A-HA moment came to me while writing an essay for my Masters degree, in which I realized that busting through a condom and beating the 99% odds of a birth control pill meant that I am a MIRACLE with much to do in this lifetime. I will get there by allowing and paying attention. In addition, by allowing inspiration to motivate my passion and plan.
SWP- Is whatever you are involved with an effective tool for change?
JL- I am a Life Coach for Teen Girls. I consider my style and approach to be one that is real and relate-able. By being genuine and using my intuitive toolkit, I offer effective strategies for growth and transformation. Although behaviors and thought patterns may "change" from my guidance, I choose to offer my guidance as a gift of helping them transition and transform into a deeper self-awareness and
their own "knowing" of which next step is best to take...
SWP- In what ways should women maximize the abilities in their vision?
JL- In order to maximize one's ability, I honestly feel that the vision will naturally and somewhat organically present offerings and gifts along the way to enhance and motivate.
But, one must be still enough to pay attention. It's almost like having an idea and planting a seed. The idea cannot manifest without taking action and planting the seed. Offer it care, attention and focus. With that, comes the growth and inspirational guidance
that maximizes a vision. The beauty is revealed...
SWP-When did you begin to embrace nd become aware of your purpose/vision? What was your reaction?
JL- I began to embrace my purpose and vision as a teenage girl.
Overcoming obstacles and choosing to identify my biggest burdens as my biggest blessings. I don't believe I had a 'reaction.' It felt more like a knowing. A head nod. Yes, go that way... And, so I did. And, I am.
SWP- A woman's mind and soul are important? How important?
JL- A woman's mind and soul are very important. I believe that whatever follows the words "I AM" will find you... Our minds and thought patterns can play tricks on us, so it is of utmost importance that we are in tune with our breathe and our soul. They can play the best music when they are in harmony and both being honored with grace and integrity.
SWP-How should our educational systems be involved in helping girls discover their purpose?
JL- I am not certain our educational systems are capable of helping girls to discover their purpose, at least at the elementary and secondary levels. I think our educational system could do a better job at offering more creative electives and assessments to help girls identify what inspires them and motivates
them. What options there are across all spectrum's; honoring both the left and right sides of the brain.
SWP -Who are (is) your mentor(s)?What have you learnt from them?
JL- I would say a consistent mentor for me has and still is my Great Grandma. As a child growing up, she was always there. From her homemade chili to her million dollar hugs, she has always been present for me on all levels. She is now one of my spiritual guides and guardian angels.
SWP-Those times that seem as if nothing is working, how do you pull yourself through?
JL- I actually try to go into self care mode when this happens. I try to allow for quiet and space to breathe. With that allowance, I am usually able to get through the funk with at least a teeny, tiny step to try. Music works great for me too!
SWP- Any last words for women/girls out there standing by and for their dreams?
JL- You have all you need. You are enough. - The Universe isyours. Don't forget to ASK for what you want! - The world needs yourmark, your input, your voice, your art, your "You-Ness." - And, mostimportantly, the world needs Your Story.
SWP-Share 5 quotes that have changed your life.
JL-These are more like affirmations, but I use them all almost on a daily basis.
Let It Be. FEAR is excitement waiting to take a breathe.
Inaction causes anxiety.
Whatever follows the words "I
AM" will find you. Just Breathe...
